This review is from: Nine to Dine (Kindle Edition)this book left me almost breathless as i sped through each page trying to discover "who-done-it " ??? the pace is fast and the author, while writing a story line that has been somewhat premised before, never lets you down with its twists and turns. just when you think you have it figured out ................surprise. you don't.
i rarely do reviews but just had to share with you [s] a great story well worth your time.

Taking a ferry rise would change Sara and David's lives forever. Sara's sister, Susan summons her to come to Balestrom when her husband, Victor dies under strange or unusual circumstances. On the ferry ride there the driver enlightens both Sara and David about the history of this house, its previous occupants and the untimely murder of Cyrus Balestrom by his mistress. Added to that Sara learns that her sister had more than one previous marriage and all of her husbands are deceased. This is quite intriguing to say the least and creates a mystic about this book that most do not have. Seeing Susan after a long period of time and the way she lives makes Sara feel insecure but she promised to support and stay with her since the authorities think she killed her rich and quite well off husband. Author Walter Butler describes the scenery, the house, the back stories in detail allowing the reader to take the ferry ride along with Sara and David, feel eeriness of the house and understand why Sara and David just might not be the same after visiting this home.... Act of Redemption: The First Gastar Book by C. C. Cole A Book Review

Two hundred years has passed since assassin Shevata killed the last of the Abbian priests.  As a result, Zermon, a demonic foe of Shevata has come to Gastar to create a new Hell on Earth.  C. C. Cole has brought to life a journey into Hell and back to save the souls of the remaining humans in Gastar, a city that stood strong and tall for centuries. But one fatal mistake changed everything. A mistake that Shevata had to pay for with her own soul.  Now three pure souls are resurrected by the Dragon Harragthus to help Gastar fight its demon foes and Zermon’s half-human, half-demon son, Behemeth, in an effort to rescue the annihilation of the human race. 

The story of Shevata is an amazing tale.  You learn that she was created during the “Great War” as an assassin.  Her only goal was to go into Hell and free the good souls that were captured by demons.  You learn of the curse laid upon her by Abbias and the lesson she learned that one thing can’t exist without the other.  C. C. Cole weaves her story so well giving you great visuals about what Hell was like and the struggles of each character.  The mystery that surrounds them as they carry out their mission set before them by Harragthus.  The story moves quickly and by the end you are happy that there is more to come.

Act of Redemption was an amazing ride.  I enjoyed every moment while reading this book.  The banter between Zermon and Shevata was entertaining.  The two characters were respectful of each other for who they were and what they stood for.  I liked their relationship and over all Shevata’s true foe was the boy Goldeon, a soul she saved many years ago in Hell.

Act of Redemption is a fast paced dark fantasy novella.  The story alone captured my attention and I found myself unable to put it down. I recommend this novella for anyone who enjoys a good adventure through Hell and back.

The non-fatal shooting of a man begins the collision course of events that expose common social disasters affecting marital, parent/child, and adult relationships as well as the desire for revenge. The story moves fast, and as the chapters flow, the curiosity grows despite the flawed characters. I recommend this novel highly to adults looking for a well-written, twisted, entertaining story. Blood on His Hands by Mark P. Sadler a book review

A crime of passion set to the background of dust and revenge.  Mark Sadler weaves his story of betrayal with a pace of desperate anticipation.  Michael the husband works hard for the money as he takes care of his wife, Bonnie, and two boys, Seth and Caleb.  The money pays well and he does his best to take care of his family.  Mike would do anything for Bonnie and the boys—even go to counseling with Bonnie so he could keep the flames of his marriage alive. Mike leaves for a weeklong job, which angers Bonnie, but she seems to take it well for when he’s gone she gets with her sister and plans a night out with the girls.

Enter Ian…the private dick…new love interest for Bonnie, who doesn’t waste any time at all leading Ian into her clutches.  Their relationship moves fast and the two begin to move in together. As they have sex for what seems like the first time…Mike comes home.  Mike’s back early due to a damaged machine at his job.  When he pulls up to the trailer, he doesn’t see Bonnie’s car, but someone else’s (Ian’s) and proceeds to believe he is being robbed.  Mike grabs his gun and enters the house through a hatch he made that came up into the bedroom from under the trailer.  You can guess what happens from here, which has Mike on the run from the law.  But the law is the least of Mike’s worries, as there is someone who wants him to pay for what he had done and is going to stop at nothing to make sure payback is served.

The story has its moments and is well paced, though there are moments to where the character’s are detached and you wish to know more of their inner motivations.   The sex scene was detached as well.  I felt as though they were not really into each other—I didn’t feel their passion.  But that’s me. Overall, I think the character’s were just existing and not experiencing their surroundings.  The tensions between the characters were none existent as well.  Tension is conflict…I didn’t feel it.

But please don’t get me wrong…Blood on His Hands is a great story and is a good read.  It is worth being on anyone’s bookshelf.  And for a debut novel, it’s definitely a good start.  I’m going to be looking for more from this author.
